We have recently become aware of a phishing scam targeting PayPal users. Fraudsters are sending emails and messages that appear to be from PayPal, often claiming there is an issue with your account, an unauthorised transaction, or asking you to “verify” your details.

What to watch for:

  • These messages may look legitimate and use PayPal logos and branding.
  • They often include urgent language to pressure you into acting quickly.
  • Links provided in the message may lead to fake websites designed to steal your login credentials or financial information.

How to protect yourself:

  • Do not click on any suspicious links or download attachments.
  • Do not provide your login details, passwords, or financial information.
  • Always access your PayPal account by typing www.paypal.com directly into your browser.
  • Verify any suspicious activity by logging into your account independently.
  • Report suspicious emails to PayPal at spoof@paypal.com.

If you believe you have been affected:

  • Change your PayPal password immediately.
  • Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for added security.
  • Contact PayPal support directly.

Staying vigilant is the best way to protect yourself from online scams.
